Agartala, 27 th October 2025: The Tripura Pradesh Congress has called for a high-level investigation into the alleged transportation of narcotics into the state via railway wagons. Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan here today, party spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty expressed grave concern over the growing drug menace and its link to rising HIV/AIDS cases in the state.
Citing national statistics, Chakraborty claimed that Tripura’s HIV infection rate is disproportionately higher than the national average, attributing the surge to rampant drug abuse. Despite this alarming trend, he alleged that drug trafficking continues unabated.
According to the Congress, narcotics were brought into the state on October 16 and 19 through railway wagons. Chakra
