NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Supreme Court on Friday issued an order in a case surrounding the removal of McKinley County District Attorney Bernadine Martin over allegations of misconduct.
The court ordered that allegations of misconduct in Martin's prior term as DA can be considered in proceedings to remove her from office. Prior to the descicion, the court on Oct. 17, directed Martin and the state to submit legal arguments on whether a district attorney could be removed only for misconduct that occurred during a current term.
