The Supreme Court has said that it is considering handing over the investigation of the rising cases of digital arrests across the country to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court stated that it will hear the views of the state governments before handing over the entire matter to the CBI. The next hearing will be on November 3.

A bench of Justices Suryakant and Joymalya Bagchi issued notices to all states and union territories, asking them to provide information on FIRs related to digital arrests in their respective areas by November 3.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the government, informed the court that many such cybercrimes are being operated from countries like Myanmar and Thailand, where criminals target Indians. Mehta said:
