PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters responded to the Providence Point Apartments in downtown Peoria Monday morning on reports of a fire.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Josh Maroney says just before 10 a.m., crews found a fire inside a clothes dryer in a first floor apartment. They took the dryer outside to finish putting the fire out.
No one was inside the apartment when the fire happened. The fire was contained to the dryer unit, preventing any further damage in the apartment.
The cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional. Damage is estimated at $5,000.
