SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend announced the traffic signal at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Cleveland Road will be upgraded on Monday beginning at 8 p.m.
Officials say the work will occur overnight and is expected to be done by 6 a.m., Tuesday.
The current traffic signals at the intersection will be out of service during work.
While the signals are off, the intersection will operate as a four-way stop with temporary stop signs and flashing lights to alert drivers.
Motorists are encouraged to approach the intersection with caution and follow all posted signage.
The upgrade includes new signal heads, vehicle detection technology, and electrical improvements.
City officials say the aim is to help traffic flow more smoothly through the intersection. Share
