The Navy's Pacific Fleet said several crew members were rescued and are in stable condition.
The cause of the crashes are being investigated.
A fighter jet and a helicopter based off the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz crashed into the South China Sea within 30 minutes of each other over the weekend.
