YOUNGSTOWN Youngstown police are investigating after reports of an inmate being stabbed at a local prison.

According to a police report, the stabbing happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 26 at the Northeast Ohio Correction Center on Hubbard Road.

A prison guard told police that two cellmates got into a fight, which eventually escalated to one party getting stabbed several times in multiple places including behind the left ear, the front torso and five times to the back.

Police say the inmate's left finger was also sliced.

The inmate was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.
