HBO's highly-anticipated It: Welcome to Derry has finally arrived, and episode 1 is, unsurprisingly, stuffed full of Easter eggs and references to the wider Stephen King universe. Created by Andy Muschietti, the series serves as a prequel to the events of the movies that Muschietti also directed, filling in some of the backstory that is referenced both in the movies, the 1990 It miniseries, and King's own book.
As such, there are bound to be Easter eggs, and boy, this episode didn't disappoint. Readers should be reminded that the TV show follows the updated timeline of the movies rather than the Stephen King book, but Muschietti blends together both King's source material with his movies in a way that remains true to his timeline while fleshing out what was only referenced in Step
