A court has dismissed the regular bail application of Chandigarh-based advocate Vikas Bector in a case involving an alleged Rs 7-crore extortion attempt.
The case, registered on September 1 at the police station in Mullanpur Garibdass, falls under sections 308(3), 308(4), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Bector, represented by K P S Dhillon, argued that he had been falsely implicated due to a personal civil dispute with the complainant advocate Gaurav Dhir. He maintained that his arrest violated Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Supreme Court’s ruling in Arnesh Kumar vs. State of Bihar, as no prior notice of appearance was issued.
