CLEVELAND, Ohio — Prominent Cleveland businessman Bobby George was charged Monday with attempted strangulation.
Special prosecutors filed the fifth-degree felony charge 14 months after a 25-year-old woman accused George of attacking her several times over the course of several months. George was initially arrested and charged with attempted murder, rape and kidnapping.
Defense attorney Kevin Spellacy said that George, 44, of Lakewood, intends to plead guilty to the charge at his arraignment on Thursday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. The attempted strangulation charge was filed by way of information, which means George agreed to skip grand jury proceedings.
