It’s the screen adaptation of a middle-grade novel set in the Portland woods, written by the star of one of Portland’s most famous bands, illustrated by his also-famous wife, and created by a Portland-based animation studio.
Now, that studio, which is OK, actually based “just outside” of Portland in Hillsboro, has released a first look at what could be the most Portland movie of all time.
“Wildwood,” written by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis, is the story of a girl who must rescue her baby brother, who, in another very Portland turn, has been kidnapped by crows in a fantastical Forest Park.
Just to make it a little more local: The movie is being directed by Laika CEO Travis Knight, a Portland State and Jesuit graduate who happens to also be the son of the co-founder of Nike
