Motorists travelling across the Queensferry Crossing faced massive tailbacks following a smash on Monday evening. ‌

The crash was initially reported around 5.40pm, with the northbound carriageway of the M90 severely restricted. Traffic Scotland reported delays stretching up to 76 minutes. ‌

The status of those caught up in the incident remains unclear, reports Edinburgh Live . ‌

Emergency service vehicles could be seen on the bridge through traffic camera footage, with several cars appearing to have been involved in the pile-up.

Traffic Scotland said on social media: "The M90 is currently restricted on the Queensferry Crossing northbound due to a road traffic collision. Lane 2 is blocked. ‌
