Pizza Hut, which operates more than 6,700 restaurants throughout the United States, will soon close 68 restaurants and 11 delivery sites in the United Kingdom, resulting in the loss of 1,210 jobs, the BBC has reported.
DC London Pie Limited, parent company of the restaurants, officially filed for administration – U.K.’S equivalent to Chapter 11 bankruptcy — last week. According to the Pizza Hut website, U.S. locations are primarily owned by a different operator, Yum! Brands. Yum!, which also owns KFC and Taco Bell, did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the U.K. closures.
The BBC noted that the affected locations are spread across the U.K., and early reports indicate that restaurants will shutter in areas such as Brighton, Hull, Bristol, Leeds and Edinburgh. Closures
