A young family's bright future has been shattered after a deer-related crash near Paragon that killed 25-year-old Cheyenne Sears just five days after she gave birth to twins.

An online fundraising site includes a photo of the beaming mother cradling her newborn son and daughter, one in each arm. Right behind her is husband and father, Coty Sears, smiling.

The Ind. 67 crash was reported at 1:06 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, between Hardware Road and County Road 1250 North. The two-lane rural highway was closed for two hours with traffic diverted to Ind. 42. The investigation continues.

Preliminary police and transportation department reports indicate that a northbound vehicle struck a deer, which was flung into the southbound lane and hit by the vehicle Sears was in.
