Officials have identified a Hobbs, New Mexico woman who died after a fiery, single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Gaines County.
Cheryl Ann Baxley, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that was reported about 4 p.m. Sunday near County Road 251 and County Road 210 in Gaines County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Investigators believe Baxley was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion east on CR 210 when she apparently disregarded a stop sign at the intersection with CR 251, according to a statement from the DPS. The vehicle continued east, where it struck a dirt berm and went airborne. The vehicle rolled several times and caught fire.
Baxley was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt. No other people were in the vehicle.
