Syracuse, N.Y. — A Syracuse man has won a $100,000 settlement two years after he was injured in a crash with two other vehicles, including a city police car.

The man, Radell Oliver, was treated for back and neck injuries and a concussion after the crash, according to his lawyer James Alexander.

The city Common Council unanimously approved the settlement during its meeting Monday without discussion.

Lawyers representing the city had sought to take the case to trial. The two sides wound up settling the case after participating in mediation.

The three-vehicle crash occurred at about 8:20 p.m. on July 29, 2023, at Midland Avenue and West Kennedy Street on the city’s South Side.
