Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was asked Monday in a press conference what his reaction was to LSU firing coach Brian Kelly .
He took the moment to muse on how the state of college football and standards for head coaches have changed in recent years.
"I feel like the college coaches now are more like NFL coaches where the firings happen quicker," Kiffin said. "NFL coaches, you see all the time, they get one, two years, and you're like, in college that doesn't happen... that's obviously not the case now."
Kiffin pointed to Texas A&M, which fired head coach Jimbo Fisher in 2023 and paid a massive $77 million buyout. Despite that, the Aggies are quickly back in national title contention under new coach Mike Elko.
