ORANGE CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - A house fire in Northwestern Iowa’s Sioux County was started intentionally, according to authorities.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the fire was reported at around 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, at a home located four miles south of Orange City.
The Orange City Fire Department was sent to the home, and after the fire was extinguished, the fire chief informed law enforcement they suspected this was arson.
“The origin and burn patterns were inconsistent with an accidental fire,” stated authorities in court documents.
According to court documents, witnesses reported seeing a vehicle leave the home as smoke was coming from the building. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office eventually located and arrested 52-year-old Greg Aberson, of Sioux Center, Iowa.
