SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. - Local food banks are getting ready for the effects of the federal shutdown hitting home and they are asking all of us to help.

Middle Tyger Community Center in Spartanburg County is a non-profit family resource center focused on uplifting families in need.

“We're here to help serve children and families in our community with safety needs, with physical needs like a food pantry, but we also have services like childcare and mental health counseling," Executive Director Haley Grau said.

Middle Tyger staff are bracing for what could be a tough November.

Grau said the ongoing federal shutdown could stop SNAP and other benefits to local families next month. Which means more families could turn to their food pantry for help.
