ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Many families are facing uncertainty as the government shutdown continues. With SNAP benefits and other assistance programs at risk, BigCountryHomepage has compiled a list of local resources available to help the community during this time.

In addition to prepared meal programs and food pantries, Abilene is also home to the Open Door Community Garden, located at 1842 Amarillo Street. Hosted by Aldersgate Abilene, the garden offers more than just fresh produce; visitors can help tend the garden, pick up food from an on-site pantry, and even grab a book from a little free library.

Prepared meals • Breakfast on Beech Street: 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday 1420 North 3rd Street • 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. • Monday through Friday • 1420 North 3rd Street
