GASTON COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Gastonia man is facing felony charges after a crash on Interstate 85 left a law enforcement officer seriously injured over the weekend.

According to Gaston County court documents, Marquez Chrisshon Ray, 30, was arrested on Saturday, October 25, after allegedly driving while impaired and striking a parked patrol vehicle on the highway. Records state that the impact caused serious injuries to a law enforcement officer, who suffered facial lacerations, swelling, and bleeding before being taken to the hospital.

Ray has been charged with felony failure to move over resulting in serious injury or death, felony serious injury by vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving, and several traffic violations, including expired registration and failure
