DEFOREST, Wis. -- A data center company is exploring whether to build a center in the Village of DeForest.

Village Administrator Bill Chang said QTS Data Centers approached the village about possibly annexing land for a center. The village has not yet received any petition for annexations or land use approvals.

Chang said if an annexation petition is filed with the village, it will be reviewed with state statutes and with consideration of the project's impact on the village. The project will also be reviewed by the Wisconsin Department of Administration.

The village cannot make any decision regarding the project until it receives a formal application.
