CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Bionca Ellis will spend the rest of her life behind bars for murdering 3-year-old Julian Wood outside a North Olmsted grocery store.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge John Russo on Monday handed down a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 34-year-old Cleveland woman with a documented history of schizophrenia.
A jury previously found Ellis guilty of aggravated murder and attempted murder in the random attack on Julian and his mother, Margot Wood, in a Giant Eagle parking lot on June 3, 2024.
Margot Wood said she hated Ellis and, along with prosecutors, urged Russo to impose the maximum sentence.
