OREM, Utah (ABC4) — One man is behind bars after allegedly threatening to blow up an IHOP in Orem while screaming about political ideologies.

Eric Jonathan Paul Lackey, 43, was arrested and booked in the Utah County Jail on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, after police say he caused a scene in an Orem IHOP approaching customers and employees and "disturbing them with his political views."

Police say Lackey left the restaurant when asked but remained in the parking lot "throwing items around" from his vehicle. He reportedly told police arriving on scene that he had a bomb in his vehicle and threatened to blow up the restaurant and kill the officers.

Documents allege he told police he would blow the bombs, "because that's what the world has come to."
