Port Elgin property owner Scott Mitchell is “sorry” he didn’t apply for a Building Permit to convert a garage into an accessory apartment unit, and while several Saugeen Shores councillors appreciated his apology and promise to never do it again, they defeated a staff recommendation to approve a rezoning request to allow two additional residential units on this property.
During an Oct. 20 public meeting Mitchell asked for relief from the Zoning Bylaw to recognize an existing upstairs residential unit in the house, a former B&B at the corner of Waterloo St. and Johnston Ave., and to convert an existing garage into an additional residential unit.
