MONONA, Wis. (WKOW) -- A 19-year-old woman was arrested while a 20-year-old man remains on the loose after the pair jumped out of a moving vehicle in an attempt to get away from law enforcement early Sunday morning.

The chase began around 3:35 a.m. when officers attempted to stop a vehicle speeding at 72 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to a press release from Monona Police Chief Brian Chaney.

The vehicle was slow to stop, going on westbound U.S. Highway 12 before exiting onto Monona Drive. The officer saw unusual movement in the vehicle and waited for backup to arrive.

During that time, the officer received information from the McFarland Police Department that the vehicle was associated with a suspect who had recently ran from law enforcement and was still at large.
