CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland police arrested three 16-year-old boys late Sunday in connection with a rash of car break-ins and firing gunshots.
The group broke into 37 cars in the city’s Ohio City and Detroit Shoreway neighborhoods and used one of the stolen cars to fire an assault rifle in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood, police said.
All three teens are being held in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, officials said.
Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd praised the officers’ work in tracking down and arresting the trio.
“Unfortunately, these young men caused significant harm to our community and put both the public and our officers at risk,” Todd said in a statement. “They are now in the hands of the justice system and must be held accountable for their actions.”
