Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts clarified his earlier comments regarding travel delays from Toronto to the U.S., stating that Canada is "not trying to sabotage" the team. His remarks came as the Dodgers prepared for Game 3 of the World Series on Sunday evening. Roberts made the initial comments after a reporter mentioned his own delayed connecting flight and inquired if Roberts had experienced similar travel issues. The manager arrived late to the team's workout at Dodger Stadium, prompting the discussion. "You know, I don’t want to get too far into it. I just arrived about 30 minutes ago. There were some delays. I don’t know if there was intent or not... the international stuff was a bear," Roberts said. "But we made it." Following the backlash, Roberts retracted his earlier implications. "Canada is not trying to sabotage the Dodgers. I know that. It was just a long day," he stated. He further explained that he was confident the Canadian Prime Minister was not involved in any efforts to delay their travel. Roberts noted that the delays were primarily due to the logistics of traveling with a large group. "It had a lot to do with our big, huge, four-plane travel party. It’s just a part of international travel. And passports. Airline security. That’s part of it," he said. The Dodgers' travel party consisted of approximately 400 people, who were divided into groups across different aircraft, with players traveling together. The team departed Toronto for Los Angeles after their game on Saturday, while Roberts did not leave until Sunday morning. As of Monday afternoon, the Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays are tied at 1-1 in the World Series. A video clip of Roberts discussing the travel delays has garnered nearly 95,000 views on social media. Game 3 of the World Series is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on Monday night.
