Jayson Tatum has made encouraging progress in his recovery from an Achilles tear and hasn’t ruled out returning later this season. A former NBA All-Star who experienced the same injury urged the Boston Celtics star not to take any chances.
DeMarcus Cousins suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon in January 2018 that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. He returned 12 months later with the Golden State Warriors but tore his left quadriceps during the playoffs.
Cousins cautioned Tatum not to jeopardize his long-term prognosis by trying to play this season on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back.”
“I would say, take your time,” Cousins urged Tatum on Monday. “You’re under contract. Take your time, get fully healthy. There’s no need to rush. This isn’t a championship season for you guys
