ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) - Over 150 people turned out Monday for a protest in St. Albans over President Trump’s immigration agenda.

Protesters took to the streets, decrying what they say is an unconstitutional attack on immigrants in Vermont.

They highlighted the stories of dozens who have been detained or held in Vermont — Mohsen Mahdawi, Ramona Ozturk, eight farm workers in Enosburgh, and others.

The demonstration, hosted by Indivisible Vermont, aimed to draw attention to the fear it’s placed on some Vermonters.

“We live next door to a wonderful Mexican family, and they have to stay inside all of the time. It’s such a tragedy,” said Katharine Hutchinson of St. Albans.

Others say immigrants are critical to Vermont’s economy in homebuilding, health care, agriculture, and tourism.
