The owner of downtown Minneapolis steakhouse 801 Chophouse is about to unveil a new restaurant and cocktail bar on Nicollet Mall.

Des Moines, Iowa-based 801 Restaurant Group plans to open 801 on Nicollet, located on the ground floor of U.S. Bancorp Center, on Nov. 6, according to a Monday announcement.

The space was previously occupied by the company's 801 Fish, which opened in late 2023 and closed earlier this year, and McCormick & Schmick’s before that.

Executive chef Richard Harrison will helm 801 on Nicollet's kitchen, serving "contemporary-American starters, salads, handhelds and mains," including a shaved-prime rib French dip and a turkey pesto sandwich, as well as four different types of pasta.
