RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue says open burning for those residing with in the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District can begin on Nov. 3.
Burning will be allowed from then until April 30, weather permitting and with an approved burn permit. This is a change from previous years, where open burning was only allowed in a single month during the winter and early spring.
Pile burning for properties outside the district is limited to parcels 1 acre in size or larger. Parcels inside Truckee Meadows Hydrographic Basin 87 must be 2 acres in size or larger.
Residents must file a 2025-2026 burn permit in order to burn.
