MAGA fans melted down on Monday after a judge ruled that Tyler Robinson, who is accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a speaking engagement at a Utah university in September, is allowed to wear street clothes during his trial.
The New York Post reported on Monday that Robinson's lawyers requested that he be allowed to wear civilian clothing during the trial. Judge Tony Graf of Utah's Fourth District Court ruled in favor of the motion but denied another motion that would have allowed Robinson to attend trial without shackles or restraints, according to the report.
“Mr. Robinson’s right to the presumption of innocence outweighs the minimal inconvenience of permitting civilian attire and Mr. Robinson shall be dressed as one who is presumed innocent,” Graf said, according to the report.
MAGA fans shared their thoughts about the ruling on social media.
"Tyler Robinson's attorneys claim that if he wears jail clothing, it will 'inevitably lead to prospective juror perception that he is guilty and deserving of death,'" former Trump spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany posted on X. "Their problem is not his clothing but rather the mountain of evidence he faces -- DNA, text messages, witness testimony and more."
"Justice must be swift. GET HIM IN THE CHAIR," MAGA media personality Eric Daugherty posted on X.
"Unbelievable. The public deserves transparency!" David J. Harris Jr., host of "The Pulse" on Newsmax, posted on X.
"Wow," MAGA political commentator Gunther Eagleman posted on X.
