4Man shot by police after dog turns violent in Baltimore apartment attack

BALTIMORE, MD – A chaotic scene unfolded Sunday afternoon in the heart of Baltimore when a man was attacked by his own dog and then accidentally shot by officers who were trying to stop the animal from mauling him.

Just before 4:45 p.m., Central District officers responded to a call about an animal bite at a residence in the 900 block of St. Paul Street. When they arrived, the 33-year-old dog owner told officers through the door that his pet had bitten him and was behaving aggressively.

Officers instructed the man to secure the dog in another room, but those efforts failed. Moments later, the dog lunged at the owner again, initiating a violent attack inside the home.
