Lansing — Republican U.S. Rep. John James and Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson led the two major parties' primary fields for governor in fundraising over the last three months, according to disclosures due Monday.

James of Shelby Township reported that his campaign for Michigan's top office collected about $1.38 million from July 21 through Oct. 20, while Benson of Detroit reported her campaign brought in about $1.21 million.
