MANCHESTER, N.H. —

Democrats are moving forward with a new selection process for choosing early voting states in the 2028 presidential primary, and New Hampshire Democrats say they're optimistic about their chances of reclaiming the top primary spot.

The 2024 presidential primary process for Democrats ended on an unexpected note, with then-President Joe Biden coming to the state to acknowledge an improbable write-in victory after trying to destroy the state's first-in-the-nation tradition. His plan attempted to uplift racial diversity by giving South Carolina the first primary.

On Monday, the Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee indicated it could be making a slight course correction for 2028.
