DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – A new natural gas plant to be built in Decatur could result in other businesses coming into the city. The project using ADM carbon capture will be a joint venture between ADM, Broadwing Energy and Google . It will be constructed on ADM property in Decatur.

“It’s the first domino to fall for Decatur and it will be very impactful,” Broadwing President Jonathan Wiens told WAND News.

Economic Development Corporation President Nicole Bateman made similar comments.

“This project can certainly lead to other types of businesses,” Bateman said. “Businesses are interested in clean energy. Also, businesses that want to be next to other high tech, highly innovative companies will be attracted to Decatur because of this project.”
