BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) - Families in our community are expecting to lose their SNAP benefits beginning this Saturday, and our food pantries are preparing for a surge in need.
“We... we are scared. We’re struggling,” said Luz Solorio, who lives in Bellevue with her family of seven.
Even with her family’s regular income, they rely on local food pantries like the one in Bellevue.
“My husband and my son work, but we still struggle. I mean, groceries — they all go up in price and income is low. So, I mean, it has to balance out, but it hasn’t, and it’s getting worse because we’re all losing SNAP benefits,” she said.
The USDA has an update on its website , referring to the current government shutdown with the following statement:
