MARINELAND, Fla. — Once a landmark destination and the world’s first oceanarium, Marineland in Flagler County is now at a crossroads.
Visitors and local supporters are raising alarms about the site’s future after its owner, Dolphin Company, filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.
Gail Davis was visiting with her partner Dave Fallers from Palm Coast Monday morning. Davis recalled her last visit nearly 15 years ago and described Marineland as a cornerstone of Florida’s history . Dave explained he wanted to visit and see the place out for himself.
“I just came to see what was left of the place and what animals were here and if any left,” Fallers said.
