LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

More than 100 local business leaders traveled with Greater Louisville Inc. to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, last week to gather fresh ideas on urban development.

The annual trip is called GLIDE, or Greater Louisville Idea Development Expedition. The trip has been a staple for the organization for more than 25 years.

Miriam Nally, the VP of Operations at GLI, said some of the key takeaways from this year's trip included how Milwaukee is tackling homelessness and attracting development to its downtown.

"They've really leaned in on the residential development [in downtown] and kind of growing that placemaking feel for visitors and residents alike," Nally said. "We've also learned a lot about their business and higher education collaboration. And then we also learned a lot about
