More than 5000 people are still without power in Brisbane and two schools remain closed as the clean-up from Sunday's violent storms continues.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a top of 22 and up to 45mm of rain for the city today and similarly mild and wet conditions for the Gold Coast.
Energex crews have restored power to about 120,000 customers since Sunday's destructive winds brought down trees and powerlines, plunging most of the city's western suburbs into darkness.
