LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 16-year-old girl was hit by a car Monday morning in Shepherdsville on the way to school.

The Shepherdsville Police Department said Monday that the girl, a student at Bullitt Central High School, was hit in front of nearby Roby Elementary School on Highway 44 around 7:20 a.m.

The girl was conscious and taken to the hospital by Bullitt County EMS, police said. The driver of the car that hit her stopped immediately and helped, and no criminal charges are pending.

At last check, police said the girl is still recovering at the hospital.
