The Hamblen County Commission made it official Thursday and followed the County Road Commission’s recommendation to be eliminated.

The Road Commission was eliminated with an amendment to a private act by the General Assembly on a 13-1 vote and will take effect on September 1, 2028.

The abolishment of the Hamblen County Road Commission via amendment of a private act from the Tennessee General Assembly was approved. County Mayor Chris Cutshaw told commissioners that the private act was sent to the Community Technical and Advisory Service legal department and it came back to the county telling the commission how to handle abolishment.
