Former Red Sox MVP and Dodgers star Mookie Betts was named the 2025 Roberto Clemente Award winner.
The award recognizes “the player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy, and positive contributions on and off the field.”
Betts is the founder of the 5050 Foundation .
“We do a lot. Mostly giving to the underserved community,” Betts said on MLB Network before Game 3 of the World Series. “We want to teach about finances, about health, mental and physical health. And really we just want to create opportunities, give goods to people who deserve it, that don’t have it.
“Sometimes there’s (future) big leaguers around underserved communities that just need an opportunity,” he added. “We want to give them an opportunit
