The Carolina Hurricanes and Colorado Avalanche turned back the clock in Denver on Thursday night, as both wore throwback uniforms of their former teams. Carolina, in the Hartford Whalers ‘ white-and-green duds, outlasted Colorado, dressed as the Quebec Nordiques , 5-4. Quebec predated the Avs, existing from 1972-95, while the Whalers were around from 1979-97.

Hartford fans have mixed feelings about the Hurricanes wearing the Whalers unis, with some believing it’s exploiting a popular uniform of a team and city it ditched, while others are happy to see the old logo back on the ice again.
