(WAND) - Millions of Americans will be impacted if SNAP benefits are paused amid the ongoing federal shutdown. DoorDash decided to step in to ensure no one goes hungry.
DoorDash shared in a press release that it has launched an Emergency Food Response, which will include the following for Americans on SNAP benefits:
Delivering one million meals for its Project DASH food bank and food pantry partners
Removing delivery and service fees for an estimated 300,000 orders for SNAP recipients
Donating fresh, shelf-stable items and essentials to local food banks
Customers with a SNAP/EBT card on their DoorDash profile can have their delivery and service fees waived on one order if they shop at Sprouts, Dollar General, Schnucks, Ahold Delhaize brands, Hy-Vee, Giant Eagle and Wegmans.
