SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) -- 8 On Your Side obtained documents detailing the threats made to children at Mary Dean Park in Sarasota.

The public records request revealed text messages between a woman living next door to the park and a friend of hers. The messages were sent to city employees, who out of an abundance of caution, removed the basketball hoop in the park. It was restored last Thursday after an outcry from the community.

Sarasota police confirmed they were investigating the threat.

For days, the woman in the text messages, who 8 On Your Side is not naming, foreshadowed violence.

One message said, "Someone or many are probably gonna die. And I'm not being dramatic. I can't control this."

Another message said, "This is ruining our lives, our health..."
