WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A Wichita nonprofit is spreading a little warmth just as temperatures begin to drop.

The Salvation Army is handing out coats and winter clothing this week through its Warm Hearts program. One leader says they expect to give out more items this year compared to last.

"I think everybody's feeling the pinch a little bit, and things that people can do to make their own budget stretch a little further by getting a free coat - I anticipate a bigger need this year," Dulcy Palnau, the associate director of emergency social services, said.

The Salvation Army says it is still a little bit short on kids' coats, so anyone who has one to spare is asked to help out. There was a line when the doors opened on Monday, but it moved quickly when people were prepared.
