George Springer exited Game 3 of the World Series on Monday night in the seventh inning after a swing. The Blue Jays designated hitter fouled off a first-pitch 95.6 mph fastball from Dodgers reliever Justin Wrobleski and immediately grabbed at his side.
Springer came out of the game and was replaced mid at-bat by Ty France, who had yet to take an at-bat this postseason. France ended up striking out for the first out of the inning.
Springer had been banged up throughout the postseason, taking a hit-by-pitch off his right kneecap during the ALCS, though he did not miss a game. He was also hit by a pitch on the wrist in Game 2 of the World Series.
Should he have to miss time, it could open up a spot for Bo Bichette to slot in as the designated hitter.
