Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry is calling for LSU to build a statue in honor of the legacy of Charlie Kirk.

"We're going to put a challenge out to the LSU Board of Supervisors to find a place to put a statue of Charlie Kirk to defend the freedom of speech on college campuses," Landry said in a social media video. Advertisement

This comes after Turning Point USA came to LSU's campus on Monday night for the "American Comeback" tour.

Conservative commentator Allie Beth Stuckey and Landry were speakers for this event.

Kirk is a well-known political activist who helped found conservative youth organization Turning Point USA.

He was shot and killed in September at an event at Utah Valley University.

Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, was arrested and charged in the deadly shooting.
